The Tazewell County Highway Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all the bridges and roads in the Tazewell County Highway System.  The system consists of 203 miles of county highways including 52 bridges and numerous culverts, drainage structures and other highway features.

In addition, the Tazewell County Highway Department provides technical assistance to the 18 township road districts of Tazewell County in the construction and maintenance of their 807 miles of township highways, 135 township bridges and numerous culverts, drainage structures and other road features.

The engineering services provided by the Tazewell County Highway Department include technical advice, project development, design engineering, construction engineering, and administration of local, state, and federal funds for county highway and township road infrastructure in Tazewell County.
